Laser Therapy

Laser therapy has three broad effects on animal tissue: it decreases inflammation, decreases pain, and accelerates healing; the light from the laser stimulates cells to begin the cascade involved with these processes.

Effective dosing intervals are critical to achieving positive clinical outcomes, much like how antibiotics work. Therefore it is recommended to begin a schedule of laser therapy as a loading dose and then a maintenance dose. This tends to look like starting at 2-3 times a week for a few weeks and backing down from there.

Conditions that laser therapy can be used for:

  • Arthritis

  • Inflammation

  • Hot spots

  • Sprains

  • Hip Dysplasia

  • IVDD

  • Rodent ulcers and feline acne

  • Lick granulomas
